Three weeks at least into the new season and I haven’t done a post yet so I feel like I owe people an explanation. It’s all simple really, I haven’t done a post because nothing has attracted my interest enough to make me want to write about it. Everything this season is either mediocre, borderline porn, taken, or too controversial. There was no obvious hit coming out this season and I was quite looking forward to it. Every show had the potential to be the next hit, but on the other hand every show had the potential to be rubbish. So far I’ve watched nine of this season’s shows and you’d think that at least one would fit but I’ve got no luck.
I really wanted to dislike this show. What with the average artwork, the overdone Zero no Tsukaima-esque magical steampunk setting, and the harem by the numbers setup. But then about 5 minutes through, when Akuto learned of his future career as Demon Lord and the misunderstandings began, I was dekkai won over.
I’m a little surprised that Scamp, Hinano and Janette all found Kaichou wa Maid-sama to be not that good. I haven’t watched enough shoujos to know what’s standard shoujo trope, but I actually liked it quite a bit. Still iffy on whether I’d continue watching it, but I thought it was much better than the last shoujo I tried to watch: Kimi ni Todoke. In my book, Kimi ni Todoke = all shoujos. So I’m going to tell you why I thought the first ep of Kaichou was about 500 times better than the beginning of Todoke.
Well, I guess I might as well write this since I’m still around. But I’m going to go out on a limb here. B Gata H Kei will be the best comedy of the season. Better than Arakawa. Better than K-ON. Better than Working. Or any of the other 2-bit harem comedies.
Apparently this was just a preview airing of the first episode of Working. The show doesn’t really kick off until the first week of April.
