Every “season preview” is an experiment for me. Experiment in styles and formats. For a long time, I tried to highlight key bits of information. For this season I’ve decided to take a complete 180, go barebones and focus on entertainment – or what I hope is entertainment. This is basically just an edited conversation with me and Sabishii. We’re light on info and any sort of details, but with all the other previews, hopefully you should have a pretty good idea of what the shows are about. Let’s see how this format flies.
In case you’re not yet familiar with the shows, you should check out other previews you may find more helpful for informational content: THAT, The Cart Driver, Caraniel, Random C, and Sekijitsu (no Sea Slugs preview this season?)
Spring was a darn good season. One of the better ones in recent memory. Unfortunately, summer tends to get a lot more dregs. This is all a conspiracy by the NHK to force hikikomori to get outside and meet with their friends and fight over ghost girls!Damn those bureaucrats!
Ok, spring preview. This is typically my soapbox to bitch about how it’s incredibly late, how putting it together is a pain in the ass, and how the new season is going to suck. But… hey, baseball has begun so might as well kick back and enjoy. Plus, the new season doesn’t look that bad.
After much consternation and soul searching about whether another preview post is even worth the effort, the season preview is back. I realized the season preview is not about the info itself, it’s not even about my opinions. For me, it’s about getting the chance to think about how to design the post – deciding what info to include, what to opine on, and then trying to figure out how to make it look better, easier to read and be more useful to people than the last version. Hopefully this latest version is a step forward from all the previous versions. Continue reading “The Winter 2011 Anime Season Preview is Back”
It seems season preview posts are happening earlier and earlier these days. By the time the actual season rolls around, it’s like you gotta root through ancient history to remember what was what. Meanwhile, I’ve been doing the previews later and later. It’s at the cost of comments, but it seems to make sense to me. Sort of like how I don’t care about football season until baseball season is over, it’s hard for me to get psyched about the next season when we’re running right into the climax of the current season. So I’m bringing up the rear.
